Upon receiving delivery of a brand-new mountain bike, it would likely take every ounce of the lucky recipient’s resolve to not immediately strap on a helmet, ease into some Lycra and head for the hills.

But that may not be the case if the bike in question is the first model released by German collective Vandeyk. 

Their mission statement is simple: “To design and build the most ravishingly beautiful bicycles – without any compromises.”

Vandeyk contemporary bicycles was founded by bicycle enthusiast and former racer Arendt van Deyk.

The first collection, named ‘Nightstream’, includes a paint design by artist Harry Seifert and is manufactured by Georg Blaschke, who ranks among the best frame-builders in Europe.

Having a bike hand-crafted by the finest professionals in the business does not come cheap, of course.

Just 25 Nightstreams have been produced and the price tag of $22,000 may well encourage buyers to head away from the hills on this occasion.
